Reader’s Question:

For my auto insurance coverage here in Montana, what are the minimum requirements that I should have? I know that I can be able to save some money for my insurance coverage if I only have the least amount required.

In the state of Montana, you should have at least 25/50/10 on your vehicle insurance coverage. This means that you should have $25,000 worth of vehicle insurance coverage for bodily injury liability for a single person in an accident that you cause. The second number refers to $50,000 worth of vehicle insurance coverage for bodily injury liability for all the people involved in an accident that you cause. Bodily injury liability on your vehicle insurance coverage would pay for the medical bills of the people involved in an at-fault accident.

The last number refers to property damage coverage so you need to have at least $10,000 worth of vehicle insurance coverage for it. Property damage would pay for the damages to the other driver’s vehicle as well as damages to other properties that are affected in an accident that you cause.

Remember that you are right in saying that you can be able to save some money for your vehicle insurance coverage if you only have the least amount required. But keep in mind as well that you would be held liable for any other expenses that are not covered by your vehicle insurance coverage. Because of that, you can consider raising your vehicle insurance coverage to avoid paying out-of-pocket expenses should the unwanted happens.
