When I had my first car I don’t care what insurance I should get because all I could think of was to drive my own car. But now that I’m a mother of two living in Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky, I now consider the importance of knowing what’s best not only for my car but also for my family.
There are different kinds of car insurance depending on what you need. Liability car insurance is what I consider the best coverage for me. It covers not only bodily injury caused from a car accident but also covers damage to property.
On the other hand, there are also policies that are only limited to covering damages resulting from collision with other vehicles or objects. This is called collision insurance.
In addition, medical coverage policy pays only medical expenses as a result of a vehicular accident, provided that there is no one at-fault. Similar to this is the Personal Injury Protection or PIP. Regardless of fault, this policy covers an insured driver for medical expenses and funeral expenses or for some cases, trauma that resulted as a result of vehicular accident.
Another kind of car insurance policy is uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. This kind of policy covers a driver from vehicular accident with a driver who doesn’t have liability insurance or one that doesn’t have sufficient liability insurance.
Also, comprehensive coverage pays for damage to your car as a result of non-vehicular accident like robbery, wind, fire etc.
Lastly, rental reimbursement policy covers for rental cars
It’s a must to know what you think is best for you and getting auto insurance should depend on that. You can purchase a combination of these polices and car insurance companies can tailor fit your needs.
