Reader’s Question:
My friend’s daughter is involved in a vehicular accident last week. Too good, it was just a minor accident and so they decided not to file the claim. If an accident happened again and this time they need to file a claim what should they do? We are from Santa Fe, New Mexico if that would make a difference.

Let me just give you 5 easy steps that my family did when I was involved in a car accident in Santa Fe, New Mexico last year:
First, contact your auto insurance agent the soonest the possible time;
Second, ask your car insurance agent on the forms or documents that needed to be submitted for you to file the claim;
Third, carefully fill out the claim form;
Fourth, ask your car insurance agent everything that you needed to know like time limit for making a claim or for the claim to be processed, additional documents that they need etc.; and
Lastly, if you have other questions you could also ask the New Mexico Department of Insurance.
I hope it won’t reach to the point that your friend or you would be involved in a serious accident. Just drive safely all the time to avoid this from happening.
