Generac Guardian 04390 15000 Watt Emergency Automatic Home Standby Generator Customer Review: Bought on Amazon, Deliv. OK -No Oper. Problems so Far.
Got it last year & installed professionally. Directions are good enough you can do it yourself on the elect.. If you don’t already have gas you’ll pay alot extra for install-you’ll have to buy tanks (propane) or get nat. gas lines run. Unit comes on weekly to charge its battery. Had a power outage & it came on automatically after 10 sec.- whole house (3 ton AC & all)was running fine. Shut itself down when power came on. Has done this a few times during storms without delay or problems. I’m pleased so far & don’t seem to have any problems.
Customer Review: Cheap insurance
Just to add a few things to the above reviews….This generator is NOT built to be used 24/7 - 365 days a year. But if your power goes out once or twice a year it should save your [...], or in my case about $50K in home theater equipment and maybe another $15K in tools. Like a lot of people, quite often there’s no one home at my house when everyone is at work and at school. What do you do if the power goes out? You could have a basement full of water in a matter of minutes during a heavy downpour if your sump and ejector lose power. Sure you have insurance, but do you really want to go throught the hassel of replacing everything in a flooded basement? If you have a decent level of experience you should be able to install this unit yourself. If you’re going to use NG (I did) you’ll have to run a supply pipe with shut-off out to within a foot of the unit. This, of couse, could involve drilling through the brick on the outside of your house along with some 2″ by. Everything is provided to hook the transfer switch to your breaker box but, once again, you will have to mount the box and possibly move the whip etc. All easy enought to do, but you do have to know what you’re doing - and it will take the better part of a Saturday. A few more things - you’ll have to buy a car battery to start the unit ($60 - $80 depending on the size of your generator), all of the pipe and shut-offs etc. to supply the NG, some sort of gravel/river rock to set the pad on and a breaker for your electrical box. I have the 15K unit so I needed a 70 amp Homeline breaker from Square D to fit my breaker box. Not a very easy size/model to find, but I was able to get one online for about $15. A good Fluke meter will tell you if the voltage and Hertz are within specs.I haven’t had to use it, but it does work fine - it ‘exercises’ every week at 11:30 am - and it is supplying the correct voltage to all of the appliances hooked to it. I consider it cheap insurance for a basement full of ’stuff’.

Standard policy offers coverage of $15,000 per person for each accident and overall $30,000 for all persons in accident with higher limits.

Personal Injury Protection - This provides coverage for physical injuries to you and others under your policy. Basic policy offers coverage of $15,000 per accident per person with maximum limit of $250,000 for permanent injuries or other specifically mentioned injuries. Customer Review: Excellent Camera with a Tough, Durable Body
A few reviewers have purchased the Canon 20D rather than the Rebel XT (350D), because the Canon 20D’s body is covered with a magnesium alloy and the Rebel XT’s body is mainly plastic. However, one should not discount the Rebel’s plastic body. It’s made of polycarbonate. I did a little research on this material and found that it is virtually unbreakable and in laminated form is used to make “bullet-resistant glass.” Of course, no matter how tough the body is, something else will break, such as the lens or the internal workings, if the camera is dropped on a hard surface. That’s why I always place the camera’s strap around my neck before handling it.

Although a couple of reviewers stated that the camera feels too light, I’ve found that it has plenty of heft with my 28-135mm lens.

The Rebel XT is an excellent camera. My only complaint is that I tend to smudge the LCD screen when I look through the camera’s view finder.
Customer Review: Wonderful Starter DSLR
Received the Rebel XT as a bday present and here are my impressions after a couple of weeks. Note: I had a 35mm Rebel SLR, so I did not need to purchase lenses.

Pros: Granted my previous digital is a 2.1 MP point and shoot, but the Rebel is insanely fast. Near instantanous start up, and can shoot 3 shots/second. I purchased a 1 GB Sandisk high speed CF card to make sure the speed kept up.

Canon’s website has an extensive tuitoral about the Rebel, and from it I have found that Aperture priority (AV) mode works best in most situations. I am really a beginner with advanced modes, but have easily found setting that make the photos come out well.

Other settings I have been playing with include the B/W and filter modes.

The auto-focus works great in all situations I’ve tried.

I haven’t needed to recharge the battery in 2 weeks.

Cons:

Camera is slighly compact, which is slightly uncomfortable in large hands.

I have Paint Shop Pro already, so the included software (Photobrowser, ArcSoft Photo Editor and Canon Photo Professional) are mostly useless to me, with the exception of Canon Photo being the only software I have to process RAW images.

The camera is still a work in progress, as I still have a lot of paces to put it through.

Insurance: From Underwriting to Derivatives : Asset Liability Management in Insurance Companies (Wiley Finance) An in-depth look at the increasingly significant convergence between the insurance industry and the capital markets.
This important publication, by two premier financial experts, explores the unique convergence of finance and insurance. The book covers the basics of property-casualty insurance, securitizing insurance risks, looks at life insurance in the United States and ALM in insurance. It addresses the questions and concerns of investment banks, brokerage firms and the insurance/reinsurance sector itself, examines ongoing trends and issues, and how current market pressures on insurance companies do not just create challenges but actually point the way to future promising developments.
Customer Review: Insightful!
In Insurance from Underwriting to Derivaties, Eric Briys and Francois de Varenne, both Deutsche Bank insurance experts, have written a highly technical, albeit readable, book for their professional peers. They discuss property-casualty insurance, risk, securitizing, pricing and liabilities duration in the United States and Europe. However, it will dawn on the casual reader fairly early that there should be an “experts only” label on the book jacket. Even the basic introduction to property-casualty insurance begins with the presentation of complex mathematical models. More daunting models, charts and graphs elucidate information throughout. Insiders will appreciate this data and the extensive footnotes and references. While this may not be a book for the mid-management reader, we assure you, without risk, that its target audience - financial executives and professionals in the insurance industry - will be very glad to have it.
Customer Review: Good intro on insurance ALM
This is probably the best book on insurance for explaining the poor state of some ALM techniques used in insurance today and why. The authors correctly identify many falacies that actuaries have relied on and how they differ from the more advanced finance that has developed in banking ALM and the capital markets generally.

They do, however, get a bit distracted on a couple of topics, and bogged down in some formulas that I didn’t think added much to the disccusion. In those moments, you know you’re reading the work of university professors rather than practitioners.

They could have gone further with their ALM thinking. They could have discussed how mergers between insurance and banking would in the future highlight the differences between the current approaches to ALM, and how financial conglomerates will eventually just relegate insurance to one of many liability businesses, apply option-adjusted transfer prices to insurance products, and take the interest rate risk into consolidated positions. It will not be any more complicated than that. They allude to banking ALM, but don’t really drive home any of what I thought were the logical conclusions. They were focused on insurance as stand-alone companies and did not address insurance in the context of a financial conglomerate.

Nonetheless, as stated, this is probably the best book on the market as an introduction to insurance ALM and helps dispell many myths and provides some useful history.

Car Insurance for Woman

Car insurance for woman is almost on similar lines as that of car insurance for man. Of course, it is at times easier and cheaper to get car insurance for woman. Insurance companies offer better quotes for women as they consider men carry higher risks of rash driving and consequent accidents. Besides, different statistics of accidents also work in favor of women. Hence, insurance companies favor women drivers in their insurance policies.

Where to get such insurance

It is easy to get car insurance for woman from different insurance agents. However, best way to gather information and details regarding insurance policies, premiums, regulations, and quotes is to scout through different websites of insurance companies. Internet offers many user-friendly tools to help you locate suitable policy and thereafter suggest correct quotes.

Most often, you entrust difficult paperwork and other details of car insurance for woman to male family members. However, it is essential for you to be aware of all details and available coverage on your insurance policy. This helps you meet any eventuality. You as an owner and driver of a vehicle need to have through knowledge of all details and depths of your insurance policy.

What can I expect from my insurance?

All auto insurances offer similar fare and car insurance for woman is no exception. You can receive insurance coverage for the followings:

  • Personal Injury Protection,
  • Bodily Injury Protection,
  • Collision
  • Property Damage
  • Comprehensive and
  • Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist

All these different coverage help you tide over medical expenses, loss of wages, lawsuits and legal fees, expenses for repairs or replacement of your vehicle, cover expenses for other s damages, etc. You could opt for cheaper insurance premiums but in the event of accident, such insurance may not cover all your associated expenses. Hence, it is best to look into all avenues and eventualities and decide on suitable and sufficient car insurance for woman.

It is often a matter of debate that car insurance for woman is very partial towards women. Although statistical claims point towards women being better drivers, however, number of accidents by women and men drivers is the same. The main difference pointed by insurance companies is that accidents by male drivers are more severe than by women drivers. This puts greater financial burden on the insurance companies and hence, they are wary of male drivers and offer greater concessions to women drivers.

Student Auto Insurance

Student auto insurance is very essential for young motorists and drivers. Uninsured driving could put a question mark on your future and lifelong driving and credit ratings. It could also land you in jail if you have an accident and are without any student auto insurance. You can avail different discounts and other concessions on your insurance premium by adhering to simple restrictions.

What are the available premium rates?

Premium rates of student auto insurance are normally high. There are various determinants like your age, driving record, your car make like sports car, etc. DUI-Driving under influence of alcohol or drugs or DWI-Driving while intoxicated receives higher ratings on your premium. Besides, new age and trendy cars are mostly of fiberglass and hence insurance companies ask for higher premiums to insure such cars. Additionally, you pay premiums according to your place of residence. Proximity to bigger and prominent cities attracts higher premiums. Again premium rates go north if you are male under the age of twenty-five as accident rates for people in this category are the maximum. Normal annual insurance rates for students range from $3,600 to $13,800.

Can I lower my insurance premiums?

Yes, you can lower your student auto insurance premiums through simple measures. The best option is to maintain good driving records. Discounts also depend on your academic grades. Maintain good levels in your college grades and present a copy of your mark sheet to insurance company to receive substantial discounts. If you live close to your campus and drive less, you can opt for low-mileage discount. Further discounts are available for participating in Driver s Training Programs, community defensive driving classes, etc. It is best to receive coverage through your parent s auto insurance as secondary driver.

If you install different alarm and antitheft devices, automatic seat belts, air bags, etc. in your car, you can ask for substantial discounts on your student auto insurance. A higher deductible lowers premium rates. Besides, you need to ensure that there are no gaps in your insurance coverage. You should buy your new policy before you are out of your parent s policy coverage. Drive old cars instead of new makes as you then pay lower premiums. Most important of all is to drive confidently and steadily to avoid accidents and develop a good driving record, which can hold you in good stead in the future.
